Open Positions
Account Supervisor
The Account Supervisor will be the lead on several key clients in the agency’s growing roster of life science companies. Account Supervisor will work to oversee key accounts and work in conjunction with the LaVoie team.
Proven experience in an agency life science setting is required for success.
Client Management Responsibilities
- Provides solid recommendations and strategies to client(s) and follows through on those recommendations with flawless execution.
- Maintains day to day lead account role on designated account(s).
- Works with clients to discern messaging of product(s), data, as well as business unit/corporate messaging.
- Develops appropriate strategies to communicate client brand based on the competitive landscape and the news item; is able to anticipate how message will be received across various audiences.
- Develops and executes client public relations/affairs programs.
- Understands product PR for therapeutic product(s) and how to position leading up to commercialization and/or partnership.
- Oversees client budgets.
- Actively leads team to learn more about the industry and effective tools to gain client respect.
- Creates technically oriented press releases (data releases), fact sheets, and other client documents. Works with team to provide drafts.
- Ensures documents are finalized through internal protocols in order to provide clients with documents error free.
- Identifies the most effective tools in order to get the best job done for clients in a reasonable budget.
- May be responsible for outreach with KOL’s and third party associations to assist with key data and additional presentations.
- Oversees client timeline, competitive client news.
- Participates in brainstorming sessions to create opportunities for visibility for clients or to properly position clients when news is not as expected.
- Works with team on account planning; update internal documents as needed.
Media Relations Responsibilities
- Develops traditional and online media strategies on client’s behalf on an international scale.
- Actively participates in the identification of media targets for client companies, provides outreach to select media, and works with team to execute on the set up of one-on-one meetings and follow up, if needed.
- Works with team to outreach to media on clients’ behalf; pitches client story as appropriate and agreed upon; conduct interviews with client and/or acct. team.
- Ensures that team properly distributes over the wire (different for each client) and through agency’s web based product press releases based on best venue.
Agency Management Responsibilities
- Fosters positive attitude, collaboration, and enthusiasm.
- Responsible for performance reviews and professional updates to staff including mentoring.
- Provides strategic input into the firm PR initiatives in terms of attracting new clients, outlining new products/services to provide clients and assists in the marketing of the firm’s capabilities.
- Actively recruits and interviews new potential account staff to align with the firms PR initiatives and client accounts.
- Actively participates in the business development initiatives of the firm including on-site pitching, proposal writing and/or review, active networking, and prospecting for and identifying potential new clients.
- Provides input into branding of the firm including outreach to PR publications and the updating of the firm’s website.
- Effectively works with senior management to set goals and actively contributes to the firms “Standards of Excellence” in order to develop best practices for growth.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3-4 years in an agency setting (preferred life science or pharmaceutical platforms)
- Master’s Degree Preferred, a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field necessary
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral and written communications, consultative and communication planning, customer service, developing interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, negotiation, attention to detail, decision making, project management, supervision, leadership, and organization
- Knowledge of principles of employee communications and public relations, media and public relations communication strategies, the art of developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with members of the media, print, online and electronic media
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage effectively; ability to integrate and fit with team is important
- Proven ability to write effective communications for life science accounts
Account Executive/Sr. Account Executive
The Account Executive will be a key supporting member of the account team and work with our roster of life sciences clients.
- Works effectively with account team; manages interns and Account Supervisors.
- Demonstrates account leadership by fostering key relationships with clients, media, and other key constituencies on behalf of clients.
- Effectively manages client budgets with account team.
- Participates in agency management meetings and adds to brainstorming process.
- Regularly uses media databases to develop and update media contacts on behalf of client.
- Identifies media targets for client companies outreach, sets up one-on-one meetings and conducts follow up, if needed.
- Outreaches to media on clients’ behalf; pitches agreed upon client story; conduct interviews with client in conjunction with senior staff. Puts together briefing background documents.
- Actively participates in incorporating new media opportunities on client’s behalf.
- May be responsible for outreach with KOL’s and third party associations to assist with key data and additional presentations.
- Interfaces with third party vendors such as graphic artists, printers, wire services, etc. and executes flawlessly.
- Helps to develop creative public relations strategies specific to each life science account situation.
- Actively participates in industry events in order to gain knowledge imperative to providing counsel.
- Provides first draft message points and press release documents.
- Distributes press releases over the wire (different for each client) and through agency’s web based product press releases.
- Drafts and edits other written materials such as fact sheets, Q&A documents, scripts, etc. on behalf of clients.
- Interfaces with account team (to obtain timeline updates and update internal reports).
- Assists in the creation of the agency’s client protocols (press release standards, wire instructions, etc.). Creates best practices for knowledge and client management.
- Flags and makes clients aware of competitive news as directed by team or on your own.
- Helps to ensure clients press releases and other materials are flawless from a graphical standpoint.
- Contributes to bringing additional new business in, including participation at new business pitches as well as other key meetings.
- Assists in the marketing of the firm and building the firms’ image in the life sciences sector.
- Participates in brainstorming sessions to create opportunities for visibility for clients or to properly position clients when news is not as expected.
